Quincy's godmother, Maureen DePolo, and her husband Randy contacted the Quincy Lee Foundation with a very unusual request. Randy is the managing partner of the Headless Horsemen Racing Stable and quite the horse hobbyist. He and his team had a mare that gave birth to a beautiful bay filly and decided to name her after Quincy and that's not all! They also wanted to help make Quincy's wish come true and donate a share to be auctioned off to the highest bidder, with the funds going to the Quincy Lee Foundation. We were thrilled by this very kind and generous offer and thus, Quincy Lee the Racehorse was born!
Quincy Lee the Racehorse has great lineage. Her father, Artie Schiller, won the Breeder's Cup Turf Mile and earned over $2,000,000 in prize money during his racing career. She spent her winter in Ocala, Florida in training with other 2 year olds. Her trainer said she "had two more gears than any other babies at the farm!" It looks like she will follow in her father's hoof steps. Quincy Lee is scheduled to come back up to New Jersey where the Headless Horsemen Racing Stable is located and to the Monmouth Park Racetrack where she will run this summer. On September 14, 2009, Henry Wright's Heart 1st Annual Benefit paid tribute to Henry Wright, the much loved owner of the Parker House in Sea Girt, New Jersey, who passed away unexpectedly last year. Because of Henry's and his business partner, Frank Matthews' generous nature, the founders and friends of Henry Wright's Heart, decided to designate the Quincy Lee Foundation as the benefactor of the evenings proceeds. Highlights of the night were the delicious food prepared by Jersey Shore restaurants, three bands, and terrific silent auction items, including lifetime passes to "the Stone Pony" and a share in the ownership of Quincy Lee the Racehorse! It was a terrific event for pediatric cancer research. A big thank you to Frank Matthews, owner of the Parker House, Tim and Brendan Smith, founders of the Henry Wright's Heart Foundation and all our wonderful family and friends at the Jersey Shore who helped in making this event such a success!
